Spice Up Your Dukan Palate!
February is known as the month of love, passion, and desire, so let’s add some more excitement to your Dukan Diet palate! To help add more pizzazz without adding calories to your diet, look no further than your cupboard or pantry!
Spice up your weight loss with these 5 Dukan spices!
1. Cayenne pepper—this spice helps to accelerate your metabolism as it naturally raises body temperature, which helps you burn more calories. Capsaicin, the active ingredient in cayenne pepper, is beneficial for suppressing hunger and promoting weight loss as it improves insulin sensitivity, which lowers diabetes risk. Add this spice to scrambled eggs, chicken and even to Dukan hot cocoa!
2. Cinnamon—this spice is a sweet alternative to sugar! It helps lower cholesterol, manage blood sugar levels, and supports healthy arteries. Research shows that cinnamon inhibits the accumulation of triglyceride and fatty acids in the body, which in turn aids weight loss. This spice pairs nicely when added to hot oat bran cereal or an oat bran cookie! (Recipes can be found in your Slimming Apartment).
3. Mustard Seed—is a spice that adds heat to dishes and is similar to wasabi or horseradish. It is high in dietary fiber, and has B-complex vitamins which aid in metabolism. Toast some mustard seeds until they pop and add them to a Dukan friendly curry dish!
4. Ginger—is a great warming spice and is especially useful in this cold weather! Also, for those Dukan Dieters who exercise—consuming some ginger can tame post exercise muscle pain as this spice is full of anti-inflammatory compounds. Add some grated ginger to veggie dishes or stir some into green tea.
5. Turmeric—is also known as the main ingredient in curry powder and contains a polyphenol called Curcumin that helps break down fat in the body—especially in the belly! It also helps to detoxify the liver which is an important fat-burning organ. Add a few dashes to liven up some Dukan devilled eggs and Dukan friendly Indian dishes!
Happy Valentine's Day to All!
