Detox your body from 2013!
Did you eat your way through the holiday season and now feel bloated and a few pounds heavier?
Cleanse your body of toxins and recharge your metabolism with a Dukan detox. Here are some diet tips to help you lose water weight and drop a few pounds. Get your body back before the next party begins.
1. 1. For your diet. Clean out your fridge and pantry. Get rid of (or give away) all the holiday foods and foods that are processed or full of sugar and carbs. Hit the grocery store and load up on good proteins, fruits and veggies. Go for organic products.
2. For your health. Drink warm water with ½ a squeezed lemon and 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar. This drink will help alkalize your body. Apple cider vinegar lowers glucose levels, and may be helpful for diabetics. It has also been touted as a weight-loss aid, as it is said to help you feel fuller and eat less. The enzymes in apple cider vinegar also promote the growth of healthy bacteria in the gut, and can help regulate candida issues.
3. For your metabolism. Researchers speculate that numerous mechanisms affected by caffeine and catechins in green tea support an increase in energy expenditure and fat oxidation, appetite suppression, an increase in fat-burning enzymes and less absorption of calories.
4. For your body. Drinking enough water (about half your weight in ounces e.g. 160 pound person would require 80 ounces of water per day) ensures that toxins are flushed out of your system and out of your fat cells!
5. For your liver. Stay away from artificially sweetened foods and beverages including diet sodas, sugar-free syrups and Splenda packets as they over burden the liver, as it breaks down the chemicals and processes them— this slows down the fat burning process.
6. For a flat tummy. Not only will eliminating dairy get rid of your under eye dark circles, it will also keep your stomach from pooching out and your entire body from feeling extra puffy.
7. For your bloat. Eat unlimited cucumber, asparagus, watercress, broccoli, cauliflower and tomatoes on PV days as these are natural detoxifying vegetables. Eat cherry tomatoes when your sweet tooth goes into overdrive. These little alkaline babies tip the body’s pH from acidic to neutral. This means fewer sugar cravings and a diminished appetite. The tomatoes will also get rid of yeast in the body, a substance that makes you crave sugar like crazy.
8. For your metabolism. Fat cells begin to store energy within one day after you stop exercising which sets off a metabolic free-for-all that result in packing on the pounds, especially in the stomach.
9. For your face. Make an oat bran scrub to exfoliate your skin’s impurities from partying on New Year’s Eve.
10. More for your body. Mix Epsom salts and baking soda in warm water and soak for 15-20 minutes. These 2 ingredients will detoxify you while leaving you relaxed and ready for a good night’s sleep.
