Get Ready For Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving holiday dinners and social gatherings are a joyful time to share with loved ones and celebrate what we are most thankful for.
These events are also known for the abundance of delicious seasonal entrees and desserts that are usually high in sugar and fat, making them difficult to avoid. Thanksgiving meals are so tempting that the average American can put on up to 7 pounds!
Here are 5 tips to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle during Thanksgiving:
1. Drink wisely. Sweet beverages such as hot cocoa with whipped cream and specialty cocktails are plentiful during holiday parties. Avoid extra calories by drinking plenty of water between meals and if you plan to indulge, for those in the Consolidation phase, keep a limit to one beverage.
2. Avoid going to holiday dinners hungry and have a protein-filled meal, or bring along a healthy snack such as an oat bran bar or baby carrots to stave off hunger and avoid devouring the dessert platter upon your arrival.
3. Plan ahead and schedule your workouts during the holidays. With so many social gatherings and changes in your schedule, your exercise routine can get thrown off. Make the right adjustments to stay on track straight through to the New Year.
4. Avoid feeling left out at the next holiday dinner by cooking a Dukan-friendly dish that everyone can enjoy such as a savory protein-filled appetizer, or a decadent Dukan dessert (try our Pumpkin Muffin recipe!)
5. Find ways to incorporate exercise into the festivities! Whether it’s having a dance-off or playing touch football, find ways to bond with your loved ones while burning calories this holiday season.
We wish you a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!
